A Nigerian fighter jet taking part in military operations against al Qaeda-linked Islamic militants in Mali crashed in western Niger, killing its two crew, Niger and Nigerian officials said on Monday.
The incident marked the first casualties in Mali for Nigerian troops, which form the largest contingent in a West African regional force participating in the French-led campaign to drive Islamist rebels from the country's desert north, reports Reuters.

Air Commodore Yusuf Anas, spokesman for the Nigerian Air Force, said the plane was an Alpha jet stationed in Niger as part of a Nigerian squadron supporting the mission in Mali.
"An investigation is going on to find out what happened. They were on a normal routine flight about 60 km (37 miles) west of Niamey when something happened," Anas told Reuters.
Asked if there was any evidence of anti-aircraft fire, he said: "We don't know but it was inside Nigerien territory."
A Niger security source said the jet crashed near Dargol in the Tillabery region which borders Mali.
"The plane was not shot at. It was not in enemy territory so for now we are looking at maybe a mechanical problem," another security official from Niger, who asked not to be identified, said.

Students in Kano protest Against mass UTME failure

Kano – Hundreds of students, who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on Monday in Kano staged a peaceful demonstration against  mass failure and withholding of their results.
The students stormed the premises of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria  in Kano on motorcycles around noon and carried placards and green leaves to show their anger.
Spokesman for the candidates, Haruna Maidabam, described the withholding of their results as a deliberate attempt to deny them the opportunity to further their studies.
According to him, more than 10, 000 students who sat for the examination in Kano metropolis have yet to access their results.
Maidabam said when the results were released last week, they went to the zonal office of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in Kano (JAMB) to complain  but were directed to go and repeat the thumb printing for verification.
‘’There is no reason for any verification of thumb- print,’’ he said.
He called on the authorities concerned to do something urgently to address their predicament.
When contacted, the JAMB Zonal Coordinator, Hajiya Karimatu Abubakar, described the incident as unfortunate and attributed it to “some technical hitches”.

Abubakar said as soon as the hitches were rectified, the issue would be resolved. (NAN)

Biafran soldiers protest in Ibadan

HUNDREDS of angry Biafran military  pensioners in the country Monday besieged the Oyo State Secretariat saying they regretted fighting against Biafran soldiers to ensure the unity of the country.
They said if they had known that the country would repay them in this wicked manner, they would have fought for the survival and sovereignty of Biafra.
The retired soldiers who spoke through their Chairman, Mr.  Mr. Gabriel Oiakhena said, “we have been pushed to the wall. The families of over 500,000 soldiers who lost their lives in Biafra are suffering.
We who are alive are just living as destitute. Many of us have died because they did not have money to treat and fend for themselves. Senator David Mark has spent about twelve years and he has done nothing for us.
When the militants were pushed to the wall, they took up arms and fought with the last pint of their blood”.
Also speaking on the issue, another ex-soldier, Mr. Olatunji Johnson said they came to draw the attention of Federal Government to their 53 per cent unpaid arrears and other allowances.
To prevent breakdown of law and order, all gates leading to the secretariat complex were shut against the angry pensioners.

Armoured Personnel Carrier, five police Hilux Vans and scores of armed policemen were stationed at the entrance of the secretariat.
Displaying the injuries they sustained in the Biafran War and many placards condemning the discouraging attitude of the government, they said it was unfortunate that they were being treated in this inhuman manner after fighting for the unity of the country.
He said their mission to the office of Governor Abiola Ajimobi was to present a letter on their plight to him for onward delivery to President Goddluck Jonathan.
He said, “we will not allow the government to rest until our money and other entitlements are paid. Many of us are still being paid N10,000 as monthly pension while they are wasting millions over there. It is not fair”.

Nigerians have become refugees in their own country, CJN cries out

Aloma-Mariam-Mukhtar
ABUJA – The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar, Monday, identified good governance and respect for the fundamental rights of citizenry as stipulated in the constitution as a panacea for peace and security stability in the country.
Addressing Judges and Kadis at the opening ceremony of a 5-days workshop on refugee law holding at the National Judicial Institute, NJI, in Abuja, the CJN, said it was unfortunate that most Nigerians have become refugees in their own country, decrying that, “These  people are forced to flee their homes, ancestral places of abode and places of business due to no fault of theirs.”

She said: “Now, the internally displaced persons are often referred to as Refugees in their own country. In the time past, internal displacement was an uncommon phenomenon especially in Nigeria. Unfortunately, this hitherto uncommon phenomenon has become a common phenomenon almost across Nigeria.
“This has been caused by diverse inter-communal, political and religious violence; forced evictions and recently, flooding. The devastating effects of flood across the country are certainly still being felt in some quarters.
“It is important for us all to bear in mind that all these pose great challenges and call for humanitarian actions on the part of all and sundry…. and attending to humanitarian needs is not a cheap venture.

“My lords, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, while it is imperative to address the needs and welfare of these vulnerable groups, my view is that it is better to avoid, as much as possible, those situations and circumstances that precipitate internal displacement and refugee crisis.
“This is an arena where the political class must be up and doing and I hold the view that good governance, respect for the fundamental rights of citizenry  as stipulated in the Constitution and strict obedience to the rule of law will promote peace rather than internal displacement and refugee crisis,” she added.
The CJN further noted that internal conflicts and political crisis in West African sub region coupled with the current military operations in Mali, have engendered human movements from troubled spots to Nigeria.

North will not support Jonathan in 2015 - Kaze

By Taye Obateru
Jos: Member representing Jos South/Jos East Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Bitrus Kaze has  said the North would not support President Goodluck Jonathan’s ambition to return in 2015 no matter how much he strives to please them.
He said in a statement in Jos, Monday, that although many of the president’s recent steps such as the release of funds for payment of compensation of victims of the 2011 post election violence, appeared targeted at appeasing the North, this would not make them support his come back bid.
According to him, “We are tempted to believe that this gesture could be in furtherance of Mr. President’s attempt to appease the North, who it must be maintained, will never support his re-election ambition in the long run.
“If President Goodluck Jonathan is truly desirous of placating the North, all he needs do is to abandon his re-election ambition or better still step aside and hand over power to a far Northerner, nothing else will impress the core North more.”

Kaze faulted the decision of the Federal Government to compensate victims of the 2011 post election violence without extending the same gesture to victims of violent attacks in Plateau State.
He said Plateau State has suffered huge losses in human and material terms but had not been considered for any special allocation to ease the pains of the people despite the support given to President Jonathan in the last election in the state.
”We will not grow weary of telling the world that Plateau State gave President Goodluck the highest percentage of votes compared to any State in the whole North, it is inexplicably painful trying to fathom any logic behind his repeated decisions to pay Plateau State in very bad coins.
“Repeated massacres and invasions by mercenaries among whom are foreign nationals armed with sophisticated weapons have led to unquantifiable losses on the Plateau, including the brutal murder of a serving Senator and Member of the State Assembly, Dr Gyang Dalyop Dantong and Hon Gyang Fulani respectively” he said.
Kaze added: “Whereas both the Defense Headquarters and the office of the National Security Adviser made averments to the effect that it was the insurgents that triggered and perpetrated the violence in Baga; in the Plateau State for example, in Dogo Na Hawa alone over 500 innocent lives of mostly women and children were destroyed in cold blood overnight in March 2010 without any of provocation whatsoever. This is in addition to billions of Naira worth of properties lost in the attack.
“Yet, since the formation of the Security Task Force in January 2009 to curb violence on the Plateau, the Government of President Goodluck Jonathan has not offered a dime in aid to the state that has endured internecine violence for years”.

60 Catholic bishops to grace installation of new Nsukka bishop

Sixty Catholic bishops are expected to attend the installation of Monsignor Godfrey Onah as the new bishop of the Nsukka Catholic Diocese in Enugu State, an official has said.
Rev. Fr Chuma Nnamene, the Director of Social Communication in the diocese, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday that the bishops would be joined by 4,000 revered fathers and sisters from within and outside the country at the installation.
Onah, who until his appointment was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Pontifical Urban University, Rome, is to take over from Bishop Francis Okobo, whose retirement has been approved by Pope Francis.
“Onah will be installed as the new bishop of Nsukka Catholic Diocese on July 4. We know it is always a unique church ceremony that comes once in a while which many people from different walks of life like to witness.
“The diocese has already started preparations for the installation of the new bishop,’’ Nnamene said.
He said local organising committees for the installation had been inaugurated by the church with Dr Nnia Nwodo, a former information minister, as the overall chairman.

“The committees include media and publicity, security, logistics and entertainment. These committees are to ensure a smooth and well-planned installation,’’ he said.
He urged all prospective guests at the ceremony to cooperate with the various committees by adhering strictly to instructions to enable the committees to achieve their set goals.
“I urge the residents and our visitors to cooperate with the committees by obeying instructions, especially on parking of vehicles and sitting arrangements.
“The plan will take everyone into consideration, so everybody will be recognised and attended to,’’ he said. (NAN

Kogi LG elections: PDP wins 21 chairmanship, 225 councillorship seats

The PDP has won all the 21 chairmanship positions in the Local Government council elections conducted in Kogi State on Saturday.
NAN reports that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), however, snatched 10 councillorship positions in five local governments areas.
In the results declared on Sunday, ACN got three councillorship positions in Mopa-Muro, two each in Ibaji and Yagba-East and one each in Kabba-Bunu and Yagba-West.
The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) also clinched four councillorship positions in Yagba-West, bringing to 14 the total number of wards won by the opposition parties.
The PDP won the remaining 225 of the 239 wards in the state.
Mr Abraham Olaniran, the Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), said the duty of announcing results as compiled and collated was in compliance with Section 21 of Kogi State Local Government Election Law, 2004.

Olaniran said the law provided for Local Government Electoral Officers to act as Returning Officers for chairmanship and councillorship elections and empowered them to announce the results.
He thanked the electoral officers for their efforts and sacrifices to ensure success of the elections.
He commended the security agencies for their “very vital’’ role in the peaceful conduct of the elections.
Olaniran also commended the observers, monitors, NGOs and all those who were directly and indirectly connected with the successful conduct of the polls.
The 21 returning officers, who announced the results in turns at the KOSIEC headquarters, applauded the peaceful conduct of the election and thanked the chairman of the commission for giving them the opportunity to serve. (NAN)

Yoruba group rejects Buhari’s offer to step down

Yoruba group rejects Buhari’s offer to step down
A few days after former Head of State, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, offered to drop his ambition of vying for the presidency if a better candidate emerges, a socio-political group, Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum, has expressed regret for his position. In a statement by its Secretary General, Akin Malaolu, the group said that if Buhari steps down for another candidate, the alliance that brought about the All Progressives Congress (APC) would fail.

According to the group, at the critical time in the country’s history only Buhari would rescue the people from suffering. The statement reads: “We somewhat regret that the former head of state and 2011 presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, would offer to drop his ambition in 2015.
We want to warn that the masses of our people do not subscribe to that idea because of the prevailing situations of Nigeria today. “It should be crystal clear to all leaders of the opposition that only Buhari is acceptable to the Nigerian people because he is a genuine leader and if, by error, he is forced to step down or stabbed at the back, the masses of our great country would back out of the merger and this may signal the continuation of PDP in power.
It is not in doubt that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), together with its reckless political regime, have not benefited the people and this has been clearly confirmed by school children, housewives, artisans and our unemployed youths and just a few days ago, we witnessed the mass killings of hapless and helpless Nigerians in Baga province of Borno State and till now the government of Jonathan appears at ease with the development.
“Hunger, ignorance and disease have been our woes. We, therefore, beseech leaders of the opposition to rally round Major-General Buhari to emerge as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2015.”

280 die in road accidents

280 die in road accidents
From VAL OKARA, Owerri.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has disclosed that no fewer than 280 deaths were recorded from 480 road accidents between December 19, 2012 and January 3, 2013. According to the commission, 323 people sustained various degrees of injuries from the accidents within the first quarter of 2013, even as it stated that most of the road crashes were attributed to over speeding, impatient and reckless driving .

The Managing Director/CEO of ABC Transport Plc, Mr. Frank Nneji, stated this at this year’s “Accident–free Award Ceremony organized by the company in Owerri at the weekend. He said that, a study conducted by the FRSC revealed that 35 percent of the road traffic crashes that occurred in the country in 2012 were a direct result of violation of the speed limit. According to him, ABC transport company, had observed the FRSC recommendation of installing speed limiters on all convoy and commercial vehicles, stressing that his company had been very proactive in installing these speed limiters in all its vehicles in order to discourage over speeding among the drivers .
He added that the company could not over emphasize the importance of driving; hence it had always spent a lot of resources in making sure that its drivers and attendants were brought up to date on modern trends in defensive driving, road traffic safety and management . He explained that accident free award was meant to bring members of the driving crew who had displayed a remarkable sense of professionalism together for appreciation.
Nneji commended the FRSC for ensuring that safety remained a critical aspect of “our national life and for rating the ABC transport very high among the operators that were inspected last year . Also speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Lazarus Okoroji of the department of Transport Management Technology, Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), charged the drivers to always shun self–medication while driving .

Taraba on fire!

Taraba on fire!
From TIMOTHY OLANREWAJU
Wukari, the bustling community south of Taraba, was on Friday engulfed in another religious crisis with about 30 people dead, scores of people injured and 32 houses razed. The state’s police command, which confirmed the incident said it had arrested at least 40 persons in connection with the violence. Residents told Sunday Sun that the violence started while some mourners were in procession for the funeral rites of a Jukun chief on Friday afternoon.

It was learnt that some Muslim faithful who were preparing for the Friday Juma’at prayer were allegedly angered by the purported obstruction the movement of the mourners caused them. Our source said a verbal confrontation ensued and within minutes it snowballed into violence. Sunday Sun learnt that no fewer than 10 people died on the spot while some young men allegedly seized the opportunity of the chaotic situation to ventilate their anger on the Muslim and Jukun residents. Many of the residents were said to have fled into the bush for safety, even as some were reportedly killed while attempting to flee the troubled town.
“It was a sad day as young men came out with guns and machetes, killing, maiming and burning houses and properties,” Buba Adamu, a resident of Jalingo, who fled Wukari as soon as the violence started, told Sunday Sun. Wukari, headquarters of Wukari Local Government Area, is about 200 kilometres away from Jalingo, capital of Taraba State.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Joseph Kwaji, who confirmed the incident, told Sunday Sun that the violence was regretable, even as he assured that the police were in full control. “When the incident occurred, the CP deployed some policemen to the town to ensure the situation is brought under control and the commissioner of police immediately deployed a detachment of policemen tfrom neighbouring police divisions to bring the situation under control, and I can assure you we are in full control now. Right now (yesterday afternoon), the CP is in Wukari. About 30 died and 32 houses were set ablaze. We have also arrested 40 suspects in connection with the crisis,” the PPRO disclosed.
He also said a 24-hour curfew has been imposed on the town to stop the violence from escalating. “Normalcy is gradually returning though, there is no movement because of the 24 hours curfew in the town now, just to ensure the violence does not spread further.” A senior police source said the Friday crisis was a product of long animosity between the Christian-dominated Jukun residents and the Muslim community in the town.
Wukari had witnessed similar crisis late February when a mere argument between two football enthusiasts snowballed into an orgy of violence, leaving no fewer than five people dead, while about 300 houses were burnt. Government had also imposed 24 hours curfew and later reviewed it from 10 pm-6am daily. The state government equally constituted a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the February crisis and a similar crisis at Ibbi. Ironically, the committee was yet to submit its report when another violence broke out on Friday.

Eight killed as militants engage in shootout in Bayelsa

Eight killed as militants engage in shootout in Bayelsa
From Femi Folaranmi, Yenagoa
Armed militants who are regrouping in Bayelsa State struck again on Saturday when they attacked Lobia community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and engaged in a fierce gun battle, killing eight people, including a sibling of an ex-militant leader, Pastor Reuben Wilson.
Southern Ijaw has been identified by intelligence operatives of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF), Operation Pulo Shield, as the breeding ground of the so-called new Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).

The new group, which is made up former soldiers in various camps of ex-militant leaders, but headed by a former commander in the Young Shall Grow Camp, has been fingered in the recent killing of 12 policemen.
They have also been linked with the increasing wave of sea robbery and kidnapping along the major waterways in Southern Ijaw.
Based on its intelligence report, the JTF stormed the area recently and clamped down on seven hideouts, seizing some military uniforms, communication gadgets, arms and ammunition.
Sources in Lobia community said five of those killed were youths who had embraced amnesty and have been integrated back into the society.
There are two versions on how the eight people died, with one version saying they were tricked into the creeks while another version said they engaged in a shootout.
A community source said the boys were tricked by some people close to the creeks where they were shot dead by gunmen.
According to the source, it is strongly believed that the alleged killers of the 12 policemen, who had escaped from their hideouts in Azuzuama, were responsible for the latest killing to thwart investigation by the police to trace their whereabouts using repentant militants.
Friends and relatives of the deceased believe that they were deliberately set-up to be killed by the gunmen.
“Our brothers were set up by some persons in the Lobia community. The report we gathered showed that after they were killed,” a source said.
Pastor Rueben, whose 37-year-old younger brother, Judah Benaibi Wilson, was among those killed, had recently alleged that anti-President Goodluck Jonathan forces had planned to destabilize Bayelsa State and the Niger Delta region, using renegade ex-militants to launch crisis.
At Rueben Wilson’s house, scores of mourners gathered consoling the family members over the death of Wilson’s younger brother.
Wilson, who confirmed the story, was in a pensive mood as he was surrounded by his close associates.
The media coordinator of the JTF, Lt. Col N. Nwachukwu, who also confirmed the incident, however, stated that there was a shootout.
Nwachukwu said: “At about 2am on Sunday there was an armed collision between two armed groups at Lobia 1 in Southern Ijaw Area which led to the death of unspecified number of persons. Our troops have carried out a cordon and search operation in the community and recovered items including two AK 47 riffles, One GPMG barrel, six AK47 Magazines, one speed boats.”

Super Eagles’ star, Ayila, may be jailed in Ukraine

Super Eagles’ star, Ayila, may be jailed in Ukraine
Super Eagles’ former defensive midfielder, Yusuf Ayila, may be jailed in Ukraine for his refusal to obey court summons in Ukraine. According to a story published in a Ukraine newspaper, made available to futaa.com, the Dynamo’s former Kiev midfielder defied a court summon to a hearing on allegations that he abandoned his wife and children in the former Soviet country.

Ayila, who is now on loan at Turkish side, Orduspor, was accused of dumping his wife Aishat Gbemisola and daughters Aliyat and Sefinat Yussuf in Kiev since October 2011. And despite being served two summons, the Super Eagle ace did not appear before a Ukrainian court on both occasions in Kiev.
Ayila, who is said to have since married another woman, Ololade Aderogba, in his native Nigeria, has allegedly stopped paying rent, their children upkeep or contacting his first wife. The former wife, Gbemisola, and the midfielder are said to have been together since August 1998.

Doctors in Ebonyi withdraw services over kidnap of colleague

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ebonyi Chapter, on Monday said its members have withdrawn their services in all government and private hospitals in the state.
The state NMA Chairman, Dr Chidi Esike, said at a press conference in Abakaliki that the withdrawal was due to the kidnap of a consultant paediatrician, Dr Pius Maiyike.
Esike, who works with the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, was kidnapped on Sunday in Abakaliki.
He said that the doctors could not continue to operate under an unsafe and insecure environment.
“We shall, however, resume our services immediately our colleague is released by the kidnappers.
“The kidnappers should know that doctors do humanitarian work and are not wealthy.
“During this period, there will be no skeletal services by the doctors. It is a pity that doctors now work under siege,” he said.
The doctors just resumed work after a strike to protest an alleged assault on their colleague by a retired permanent secretary.

In February, an Assistant Superintendent of Police was alleged to have manhandled a doctor on duty and inflicted injuries on him.
Esike wondered why doctors should be made to face such criminality in the discharge of their duties.
He, however, appealed to the Governor, Chief Martin Elechi, the police, State Security Service and other security operatives to secure the release of Maiyike from the kidnappers.

Medical doctor kidnapped, security man shot dead in Ebonyi

A Consultant Paediatrician, Dr. Pius Chuka Manyaike with the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, FETHA, was on Sunday afternoon at No.  15A Owerri Street, Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
It was gathered that his security man, identified as Peter was also shot dead by the kidnappers when he tried to stop the gunmen from gaining entry into the premises of the private hospital where his boss, Manyaike, was allegedly kidnapped.
Vanguard learnt that Dr. Manyaike was kidnapped by two gunmen carrying AK 47 rifles who drove into his private hospital, St Marks Children Specialist Hospital in Abakaliki in a black coloured BMW car.
Confirming the incident, the Ebonyi state Police Public Relations officer, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, Sylvester Igbo noted that the gateman of the hospital identified as Peter who was shot dead by the gunmen had been deposited at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, FETHA, mortuary.

According to Igbo, five empty shells of AK 47 were picked at the scene of the crime as efforts were on to track down the culprits.
“Today being 5th May, 2013, at about 1300 hrs at No 15A Owerri street Abakaliki, one Dr. Manyaike Pius, the owner of Saint Marks Specialist Clinic was kidnapped with his vehicle BMW black in colour by two armed men with AK 47 at his entrance of the gate.
“His gateman by name Peter (surname yet to be known) was shot dead,
five empty shell of AK 47 picked at the scene. Corpse was deposited at
FETHA; effort is on to trace the culprits”

 audu-1dp-300x218
Okpanachi, a youth leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, was shot dead in his home town, Alloma.

It was gathered that the gunmen who shot the deceased were dressed in police uniform.
In a related development, two others were killed during a clash between supporters of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, and the ACN in Odu Ward 1 of Dekina Local Government Area.
The clash was said to have resulted from alleged distribution of electoral materials in the ward.

Inspector Shoots Danfo Driver To Death

A police inspector attached to the Elere Police Station in Agege, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, has been arrested for killing a commuter bus driver, Ibrahim Fagbohun, 29, through accidental discharge.
The culprit identified as Inspector Ibrahim Abdullahi is being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, pending conclusion of investigations.
Vibesngists.com gathered that the bus driver was shot dead on Thursday at Ile-Epo along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway in the midst of his colleagues who were trying to apprehend an alleged thief.
The detained police inspector, it was learnt, was on patrol with other policemen when they sighted the drivers who are members of an association called ‘Corporate Drivers’ trying to apprehend a man for allegedly stealing two tyres.
Vibesngists.com gathered that Inspector Abdullahi fired in the air and inadvertently shot Fagbohun on the forehead. The bus driver was confirmed dead at Oke Odo General Hospital.
Narrating the incident to Vibesngists.com, the Chairman of Corporate Drivers, Rahmon Okanlawon said: “We were trying to apprehend the man who stole our tyres when a police patrol team came. The Inspector jumped down and started firing indiscriminately in the air. The bullet hit one of our members, Ibrahim Fagbohun, on the forehead and he died immediately. When we rushed him to the hospital, he was confirmed dead.”

Okanlawon said he was also arrested by the policemen from Elere and taken to the station where he was detained.
Meanwhile, the Civil Society Club of Nigeria, led by Comrade Babatunde Ashafa, has called on the state Commissioner of Police to investigate the murder and bring the culprit to book.
“We asked the drivers not to foment trouble over the murder and allow the law to take it course. The IGP must probe the murder and ensure that justice is done,” Ashafa pleaded.
Also commenting on the murder, Lagos Police Command Spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, confirmed the arrest of the Inspector, adding that he had been detained at the SCID for interrogation.
“We have arrested the Inspector and he has been detained at the SCID. We are interrogating him and if he is found guilty, he will be prosecuted,” Braide stated.
Area ‘G’ Police Division Commander, Abdullahi Danbaruba, under whose jurisdiction the murder falls, also confirmed the arrest of the Inspector.
The deceased had two children, Rasheed, 4 and Nimota, three months.
